The Procedural Issues and Rules Committee verified the authenticity of the application addressed to the Speaker concerning the resignation of the Head of the State Security Service, Grigol Liluashvili.

According to David Matikashvili, the Chair of the Committee, G. Liluashvili addressed the Speaker with the application for his voluntary resignation ahead of time.

"As you are aware, the tenure of Mr. Liluashvili in this position concludes on October 2025, rendering him ineligible for re-election. Subsequently, as announced by the Prime Minister, a separate Ministry of Regional Development will be established to oversee the implementation of reforms and state policies. This ministry is anticipated to be headed by Grigol Liluashvili. Additionally, Paata Salia has been nominated for the position of Justice Minister. I extend my sincere congratulations to all three of these highly qualified candidates”,- he stated.

The Committee verified the authenticity of the application of April 1, 2025, of Grigol Liluashvili in line with paragraph 3, Article 6 and paragraph 4, Article 183 of the Rules of Procedure, by which, Mr. Liluashvili addresses the Speaker for his resignation. At this juncture, the Committee determines to terminate the authority of Mr. Liluashvili ahead of time in line with subparagraph “f”, paragraph 1, Article 10 of the Law on State Security Service, and paragraph 3, Article 6 and paragraph 4, Article 183 of the Rules of Procedure.

The Committee resubmitted the document to the Bureau and plenary session.
