“Yesterday was a great day for our society. At Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, on the holy throne of the Georgian Church founded by Andrew the First-Called, Catholicos-Patriarch Shio III was enthroned. I would like to congratulate His Holiness and Beatitude on his enthronement and wish him strength in carrying the heavy cross entrusted to him by our Holy Patriarch Ilia II, so that the core values embedded in our faith may be fully upheld”, - the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, H.E. Shalva Papuashvili, stated during the plenary session.
According to the Speaker of Parliament, society witnessed a rare historical event, and the day was marked with particular joy.
“We witnessed a moment that rarely occurs in a person’s lifetime, and naturally, we were and remain filled with special joy. I wish for all of us that for many years to come we may continue to refer to Shio III, His Holiness and Beatitude, as the head of our Church. On your behalf, I would like to congratulate him and all of Georgia on this exceptional and momentous day”, - Shalva Papuashvili stated.
