The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, delivered remarks at the opening ceremony of the “Army Camp” programme held at the Sergeants Academy Named After Giorgi Antsukhelidze.
“Since becoming an independent country, issues related to the armed forces have been of particular importance to us. This is especially true for a country that has such distinguished service members and an army that has repeatedly demonstrated its readiness to defend the interests of the nation and its people.
In today’s world, it is easy to obtain different types of education; however, the most important thing is the set of values that every young person should acquire. Foremost among these values is patriotism—the love of one’s homeland. Naturally, the acquisition of such values requires the right environment, and there is perhaps no better place than the military to experience both the pride and the responsibility that patriotism entails. Love for one’s homeland is not only a great privilege but also a tremendous responsibility. Therefore, I wish you an engaging and rewarding experience during your time at the ‘Army Camp’”, - Shalva Papuashvili told the participants.
The ceremony was also addressed by the President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili, the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, and the Minister of Defence, Irakli Chikovani. Representatives of Parliament and the Government attended the event.
Following the ceremony, the President, the Prime Minister, the Speaker of Parliament, the Minister of Defence, and the Commander of the Defence Forces toured the camp’s training infrastructure.
