
H.E. Shalva Papuashvili, Speaker of the Parliament, held an introductory meeting with the newly appointed Ambassador of France, H.E. Olivier Courteaud.
As accentuated at the meeting, Georgia and France share historically friendly ties.
Mr. Papuashvili expressed his gratitude to France for its unwavering support of the territorial integrity and the non-recognition of the occupied territories of Georgia.
The Ambassador stated that France continues to support Georgia since its independence and that the respect and support of the country’s integrity, sovereignty and independence are particularly valuable in the modern complex world.
The discourse encompassed the political situation and the developments in Georgia. The emphasis was placed on the significance of diplomacy in bilateral relations based on national interests.
The parties expressed their commitment to cooperating to further enhance Georgia-France relations and facilitate Georgia’s EU integration. At this juncture, a trust-based, open and constructive dialogue was estimated as imperative.
