Meeting of Shalva Papuashvili with the President of Turkmenistan

The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, H.E. Shalva Papuashvili, held a meeting with the President of Turkmenistan, H.E. Serdar Berdimuhamedow.


During the meeting, they underscored the productive cooperation between the two countries, both bilaterally and within international organizations, highlighting the enduring friendly relations. Special attention was given to the significance of trade, economic, and transport-logistics cooperation, as well as the advancement of joint regional projects.

Shalva Papuashvili expressed gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan for the decision to unveil the monument of Shota Rustaveli in Ashgabat, emphasizing its role in further strengthening the bonds between the two peoples. In turn, Serdar Berdimuhamedow reiterated unwavering support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The meeting took place as part of Shalva Papuashvili's current official visit to the Central Asian region, accompanied by a parliamentary delegation.


The delegation, led by the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, includes Kakha Kakhishvili, Head of the Friendship Group with the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Chairman of the Regional Policy and Self-Government Committee; David Matikashvili, Head of the Friendship Group with the Parliament of Turkmenistan and First Deputy Chairman of the Legal Issues Committee; Irakli Mezurnishvili, Head of the Friendship Group with the Parliament of Uzbekistan and First Deputy Chairman of the Culture Committee; Baia Kvitsiani, Deputy Chair of the Education, Science, and Youth Affairs Committee; Anton Obolashvili, member of the Budget and Finance Committee; and Sozar Subari, member of the Agrarian Issues Committee.
