
The Speaker, H.E. Shalva Papuashvili held a meeting with the Chairperson of the Senate (Upper House of the Parliament) of Uzbekistan, H.E. Tanzila Narbaeva.
The counterparts deliberated on the Georgia-Uzbekistan friendly relations and cooperation prospects.
According to Mme. Narbaeva, the Georgian and Uzbekistani people cherish historical respect to each other. As she noted, Uzbekistan gives a positive assessment to the peace-oriented policy of Georgia. The parties expressed their commitment to further enhancing parliamentary cooperation; in this context, the role of the high-level visits was highlighted. The Uzbekistani side also extended the readiness for cooperation in the regional policy sphere.
Speaker Papuashvili underlined the boosting significance of the middle corridor. According to him, the development of the transit and transport potential of the middle corridor is a shared interest of both countries. The meeting was held within the framework of the official visit of the Speaker and the Parliamentary Delegation to Central Asia.
