H.E. Shalva Papuashvili, the Speaker, accompanied by his daughter and deputies, paid a visit to Ukrainian citizens who had remained in Georgia owing to the war in Ukraine and congratulated them on Women's Day.

The Speaker and Members of Parliament spoke to Ukrainian citizens about the present situation and reaffirmed their unwavering support for their country.

On behalf of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili presented symbolic presents to the Ukrainian people.

"It's an emotional rollercoaster of a day. We wanted to make today more lovely for women and girls on behalf of the Parliament during this tough moment. We have attempted to reaffirm and demonstrate our spiritual and practical support for our friendly nation in order to help them get through this tough time. We will do everything we can to assist them. I am hopeful that with the Ukrainian people's bravery, everything will turn out good and the world will be at peace”, - MP Khatia Tsilosani stated.

"Today's gathering serves as a signal of Georgia's support for Ukraine. Despite the awful circumstances in Ukraine caused by Russia, we wanted to make today's holiday - March 8 - as nice as possible for Ukrainian ladies in Georgia, to give them beautiful moments”, - Tamar Taliashvili remarked.

Due to the ongoing hostilities in Ukraine and the interrupted air flights, the citizens of Ukraine who arrived in Georgia are not able to return to their homeland.

Their accommodation in the hotel was provided by the Georgian government.
