
The Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, Mr. Tedo Japariedze took part in the Warsaw Summit Expert Forum on “NATO in Defence of Peace” in capacity of the Speaker. The panel was dedicated to Peace Protection Worldwide through Facilitation of Freedom, Justice and Defense Capacity”.
The delegates discussed cooperation of Georgia and Ukraine with NATO and accession prospects. The particular attention was attached to EU and NATO integration of Georgia. “NATO aspiration emerged in Georgia soon after independence is more real today deriving from enhancement of NATO East wing and enlargement in the Black Sea basin. As to Georgia, according to our agenda, NATO perspective means strengthening of the country in terms of democratic reforms and economic welfare”, - T. Japaridze noted.
He spoke about the role of Georgia as of the leading democratic country in the region and the greatest contributor amongst NATO non-members. We have stable economic growth, new foreign investments. “Membership of NATO will first of all eliminate never-ending threats and will serve the basis for new peaceful cooperation”.
The parties discussed upcoming Parliamentary elections. “Since 2012, Georgia moves from the transitional stage of democracy to democratic consolidation. Elections will have zero impact on our EU and NATO aspiration”. He introduced the joint statement of the political parties concerning EU integration as an evidence.
