The Briefing by Beka Natsvlishvili

The Member of Parliament, Beka Natsvlishvili held the briefing to discuss the reforms scheduled by Tbilisi City Hall concerning new parking rules in Tbilisi, sanctioning of the Taxi drivers and installment of the advertising banners on Taxis.

Yesterday, he noted, on October 1 many taxi drivers have been fined due to the vague nature of the statement about expiration of the license term. “October 1 was stated as the expiration date of the license as stipulated under the licensing document and as the drivers have not been informed that they have been liable to use their license as until October 1, 2019, most of the taxi drivers who have not repainted their vehicles and not subject to the City Hall Decree, have been sanctioned. It is wrong as the City Hall should issue a clear ordinance about their right to use their license not as for October 1 but as for September 30 inclusively”, - MP stated.

On this occasion, the Members of Parliament are up to collect the signatures to address the Prime Minister and City Hall to exempt the fined drivers from unfair fines.

As stated, the advertisement banners are of no less importance and their mandatory installment on the taxis. “Often, installment of the advertisement banners of the casinos and online games, as well as gambling is incompatible with their opinions and it puts them under inconvenience. Naturally, we all are aspired to prevent these advertisements flood the city”.

As B. Natsvlishvili noted, being Single Mandate MP for Krtsanisi Region (currently the part of Old City), encounters the problem of the new parking regulations related to undefined red lines.

“The problem derives from the fact that the red lines are not defined and the residents of the district are often fined. I call on the City Hall to suspend sanctioning the residents until they eliminate the red line problems. Only in this case the new parking rules in old Tbilisi can be discussed. Otherwise, these people are unfairly fined”.
