The Briefing by the Independent MP, Beka Natsvlishvili

The Independent MP, Beka Natsvlishvili together with the Social Workers’ Trade Union members held the briefing to touch upon the dismissal of the social workers.

According to him, dismissal of 40 social workers shows the signs of discrimination as 35 of them participated in the strikes requiring improvement of the labor conditions. “On January 17, these people were awarded and appraised, today they are dismissed. It is unexplainable. The only sign evident is the revenge on a political basis as many of them participated in the strikes. I ask for the heating in the Human Rights Committee and summon the Healthcare Minister to answer the questions and substantiate the basis and criterion for dismissal. As to the reorganization process, it shall be ensured pursuant to the new law and the social workers shall be appointed beyond competition”, - he noted.

As he stated, the new law envisages the Agency to employ 50 more workers. Instead, the Agency dismissed 40 experienced persons. The briefing was attended by the dismissed social workers.

The member of the Social Trade Union Board, Tea Magradze stated that the promise envisaged additional personnel but the workers were, on the contrary, dismissed on the basis of uncertain criterion.

The social workers intend to fight for their labor rights in a judicial manner as they have been dismissed with prejudice to the law.
