The comments by Manana Kobakhidze and Tinatin Khidasheli concerning the 131st assembly of IPU

According to M. Kobakhidze, the assembly heard the reports by the President of IPU and the Secretary General. The topic was women participation in politics and combat against violence to women. “The assembly considered issues such are women participation in peace-keeping, conflict situations and occupation conditions, women rights, combat against sexual abuse to women and crimes violating rights of women”.

According to T. Khidasheli, one of the topics of consideration was gender quotation in elections. “This issue is very relevant in Georgia. NGOs lobby this topic, so we shall discuss this issue when we are back”. Besides combat against violence to women, the assembly considered global problems. “There are some resolutions one of which concerns Islamic state and the second the Ebola virus”. The 131st assembly of IPU is held in Geneva and will be accomplished on October 16.
