
The Deputy Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee, Endzela Machavariani, NGOs and the International Expert for the Environmental Impact Assessment to discuss implementation of the Environmental Impact Assessment Code of Georgia.
The parties discussed the EU-backed project in Georgia aiming at engagement of NGOs and media in the decision-making process at the local and national levels in the environmental protection and impact assessment spheres.
The expert asked about the prospects in this direction and further development of this process, as well as necessities for effective implementation of the Code.
According to E. Machavariani, the project currently covers four regions, though it would be preferable to apply countrywide.
