The meeting of Levan Berdzenishvili with the Head of the Strategic Communication Group of South Europe

The Head of the Strategic Communication Group of South Europe, Giles Portman and the expert Anneli Kimberley, visited the Parliament.

The Chair of the EU Integration Committee, Levan Berdzenishvili and Committee members, Gia Volski and Zviad Kvachantiradze met with the guests. The parties considered implemented and ongoing events in strategic communication sphere. MPs attached attention to EU and NATO integration of Georgia and obligations assumed under, as well as benefits for the population.

“We quite well explained to the guests importance of all signals to Georgia. We asked for the freedback for the light in the end of the long and dark tunnel. We do not expect accession to EU tomorrow or even day after tomorrow, though we expect the proposal that Georgia has European perspective”, - L. Berdzenishvili stated.

As noted, pro-western propaganda has increased as in Georgia and EaP countries, so in Western European states as well, which needs consecutive and coordinated approaches. As L. Berdzenishvili noted, the attitude to EU and European structures are being changed. This trend cannot be suspended yet, though it shall be reversed.

“The benefit from EU and NATO integration is important for Georgia. It shall be due acknowledged and explained to the population in order to better realize support to EU and NATO. In this view, we asked them for intellectual and financial aid. We asked for intellectual aid to Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia and similar countries, which had to confront Russian propaganda and have already been through the path Georgia is on now. We do not have value problems as Georgians historically feel Europeans. We have DCFTA but our farmers and the part of society are not informed about the means used by Europe for opening economic benefits. Explanation needs finances. Our appeal touched them and promised to help”.
