The Chair of Foreign Relations Committee, Tedo Japaridze met with the Swiss Ambassador, Lukas Beglinger. The Parties discussed political and economic relations, Parliamentary diplomacy, Georgia-Russia relations and role of Switzerland in Geneva Talks.
“We considered bilateral political and economic relations. We have moderate scale intensive relations with Switzerland. The role of Switzerland as a mediator is very important for us. We discussed various formats, first of all Geneva Talks. As noted, Switzerland needs to be more active in this format. New ideas shall be developed. We shall not hold meetings for meetings. Each round shall result in something new. We touched upon Georgia-Russia relations. Our opinions in this regards coincide. We have a rigid partner in capacity of Russia but we noted that the dialogue and communication is an optimal way for relations with this country. We spoke of increase of Parliamentary diplomacy. Switzerland expressed commitment to consider this issue with the Government and in the nearest future we will have the opportunity to once again meet and agree on the dimension of the Parliamentary diplomacy”, - Tedo Japaridze stated.
