The meeting of Zviad Kvachantiradze with the Deputy Foreign Minister

The Chair of the Diaspora and Caucasus Issues Committee, Zviad Kvachantiradze met with the Deputy Foreign Minister, Mikheil Ninua and the Head of the Diaspora Relations Department at the Ministry, Rati Bregvadze.

The parties discussed the recent decision of the Committee related to organization of Diaspora Forum and close links with the compatriots abroad. The representatives of the Ministry introduced the Ministry plans and the objectives regarding the Forum, as well as the projects scheduled in 2019 by the Ministry.

The parties touched upon provision of the Diaspora organizations with the information about the certain projects and noted the role of the Public Broadcaster in this context to inform our compatriots and Diasporas abroad. One of the subjects the parties considered as the priority was the problems of the Sunday Schools in terms of provision of the text-books in timely manner, facilitate the pedagogues and increase the academic quality.

The parties touched upon engagement of Diaspora in economy of Georgia, the plan of the Ministry to fund the projects developed by the Diasporas.

“Diaspora Forum is a very interesting and comprehensive project aiming at enhancement of the ties with our compatriots abroad, discussion of the challenges our Diaspora encounters, support of Diaspora organizations etc. We strive to annually increase engagement of our compatriots abroad and Diasporas in the Diaspora Forum”, - Z. Kvachantiradze noted.

The parties agreed on the joint working meeting of the executive and legislative authority with the Prime Minister and scheduled the working meeting with the Heads of the regions.

The meeting was attended by the First Deputy Chair of the Committee, Givi Chichinadze, Deputy Irakli Mezurnishvili and the Committee member, Anzor Bolkvadze.
