Georgian society was astonished about the statement by the President of EPP, Joseph Daul made for one of the Georgian TV Companies concerning visa free regime of Georgia. Hitherto, all the European structures have been positively evaluating progress of Georgia on EU integration path to be manifested with visa free regime.

Hence, we have the logical question: who is interested in similar estimations and statements? Who can be against the pro-Western course of Georgia today? I presume the answer is crystal clear. It is as well noteworthy that it is not the first time when the Georgian opposition, namely UNM misinforms their partners in EPP about the current situation in Georgia. Similar actions often leave EPP representatives and others embarrassed.

As we strongly believe, international organizations shall not serves as the arena for internal political battles but to be the instrument in favor of consolidation and national and state interests of the country soon echoed in abolishment of visa regime with Europe. Importance of integration with West and intact nature of foreign political datum are the issues that the Prime Minister will touch in his speech in Strasbourg at PACE session.

Meanwhile, we re-confirm commitment to host any person concerned, including from EPP for constructive cooperation in order to provide them with the information at the place and assure them in democratic processes and reforms ongoing in our country.

And finally, I shall note that Mr. Daul has long ago left the position of a Chairperson of EPP Political Group and is no longer MEP as well. He is the President of the Party without any leverage to influence the EP decisions. According to our information, EPP supports visa liberalization decision and thus, the statement by Mr. Daul is expression of his subjective opinion solely.

Many of Georgian politicians and diplomats had years to effectively work on visa liberalization issue. This achievement belongs to Georgian people being the vital interest of the country. As to upcoming Parliamentary elections, the incumbent Government has repeatedly proved that it is loyal to the highest requirements of democracy without any external instructions.
