The Thematic Inquiry Group on Disinformation and Propaganda heard the Deputy Chief of State Security Service, Grigol Liluashvili

The Thematic Inquiry Group on Disinformation and Propaganda held the meeting with the Deputy Chief of State Security Service, Grigol Liluashvili to hear the information about activity of the SSS, its policy to counter disinformation and propaganda, activities and cooperation with other state agencies to mitigate impact of Russian disinformation campaigns.

“Inquiry of disinformation and propaganda issues was conditioned with indications to these challenges as to the threats against the national interests in the recent reports of the Security Service. Naturally, Security Service is one of the key agencies in the inquiry process holding the comprehensive information about disinformation and propaganda system in Georgia. So, today we touched upon these issues and responses by the State Security Service to mitigate the threats, we discussed the coordination with the executive authority and other agencies in terms of the uniform policy and communicated mechanisms, as well as the role of the Parliament and the political parties”, - Nino Goguadze noted.

The Group will develop the conclusion and recommendations for the Foreign Relations Committee. The hearing was attended by the main rapporteur, Nino Goguadze, as well as the Group members Irina Pruidze, Dimitri Tskitishvili, Giorgi Khatidze, Giorgi Kandelaki and Giorgi Bokeria, also the inquirer, Giorgi Gobronidze.
