
The EuroNest PA Bureau is being held in Strasbourg. The Co-Chair of the Assembly, Victor Dolidze attends the Bureau with the Parliamentary delegation. Other participants of the Bureau are MPs from Armenia, Moldova and Ukraine, where the partners considered the decision of the Azerbaijani Parliament on secession of the EuroNest PA.
The Milli Majlis has already officially notified the PA about the decision. However, deriving from the EuroNest rules, Azerbaijan will officially secede in one year. The Bureau expressed regret due to the hereof decision. “Criticism of our European neighbors is directed not only to Azerbaijan but to all Eastern European states that these countries to do their best for perfect democracy. I call on my colleagues to hold the inclusive dialogue with Azerbaijan in view of their return to the Assembly”, - Victor Dolidze stated.
The partners considered situation in Ukraine and Russia-Ukraine relations, as well as migration problems from Syria to Europe, Georgia-EU visa liberalization issue and post-NATO Warsaw Summit prospects for Georgia.
Since EuroNest being established, one of the main objectives of the Bureau is regulation of rotation of Co-Chairs in the Committees and working groups. V. Dolidze offered to implement rotation according to English alphabet towards partner EaP states. As decided, Co-Chair or Vice-Co-Chair of each Committee shall occupy the position with the term from 2 to 4 years.
The sittings of the Social Issues and Energy Security Committees were decided to be held in Tbilisi on November 5-6 and the sittings of the Political and Economic Committees will be held in EP in Brussels.
The Parliamentary delegation of Georgia, headed by Victor Dolidze, attended the EP plenary session, where the President of France, François Hollande and the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel delivered the speeches.
This is the second precedent, when the leaders of these countries visited EP together. The first precedent took place in 1989 after dissolution of Berlin Wall.
