Kakha Kuchava: the support of Greece is important in reforming to make our application for EU membership in 2024 successful

“I visit the friends of Georgia in Greece – your support is important in reforming to make our application for the EU membership in 2024 successful”, - the Speaker, Kakha Kuchava stated after the meeting with the President of the Hellenic Parliament, Konstantinos Tasoulas.

Kakha Kuchava serves the visit to Athens, Greece to participate in the European Conference of the Presidents of the Parliaments of the CoE member States and address the attendees.

Simultaneously with the Conference, the Speaker holds the bilateral meetings. Today, at the meeting with his Greek counterpart, the parties discussed the relations between the countries, the Euro-Atlantic integration of Georgia and the democratic reforming in our country.

After the meeting, the Speakers made a joint statement for the media.

“I am glad to visit Greece – the place of establishment of the Western civilization and democracy, the country with the great cultural heritage and ancient history. I visit Athens within the Conference of the Presidents of Parliament, where I will speak about the environment – it is the issue we all take care of. We shall intensify our striving to ensure the due protection of the environment and provide our future generations with a healthy life. At the same time, I visit our friends in Athens. Greece supports the territorial integrity, sovereignty, EU and NATO aspirations of Georgia and is a host country for the large Georgian Diaspora. I am truly grateful for your kind hospitality for the Georgian people in the hard period. The historical choice of the Georgian people, their decision to become the full-fledged members of the EU and join the EU family is we intend to work hard in the upcoming years, which means lots of reforming, and ambitious steps forward. And in this process, cooperation between our Parliaments will be of utmost importance. Your support will be highly valuable in the reforming process to make our application for EU membership in 2024 successful. During my visit to Greece, we will discuss the issues being so important for us all and I believe, we will achieve certain outcomes since all the participant Presidents of Parliaments are devoted and aspired to achieve the outlined goals”, - the Speaker, Kakha Kuchava stated.
