Meeting of Archil Talakvadze and Levan Karumidze with the Delegation of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP)

The Vice-Speaker, Archil Talakvadze and the First Deputy Chair of the EU Integration Committee, Levan Karumidze held a meeting with the Delegation of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP).


The parties deliberated on the democratic and economic reforms undertaken in Georgia and overviewed the challenges related to regional security and development.


“I introduced the achievements and the progress of Georgia to our guests that we enjoy in the democracy, security and economic spheres. We overviewed the challenges, including territorial integrity and de-occupation, the situation in the region, risks and threats. We discussed the domestic political issues. The CPLP Delegation members expressed their support to Georgia. As highlighted, the economic progress of Georgia and the quality of addressing the security challenges are to be appraised. We dwelt on the electoral legislation of the country, related reforms and the establishment of the novelties in the electoral technologies, which ensure high reliability of the free elections”, - A. Talakvadze noted.


According to him, the visit of the CPLP Delegation stands as a positive step for the enhancement of bilateral and multilateral relations and supporting the non-recognition policy.


In 2014, Georgia accessed the Community, unifying 9 countries with the status of the associate observer.
