Archil Talakvadze: Dear partners, now it’s your move and time to secure the place for Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova within European family - together, we can be stronger Europe

“Dear partners, now it’s your move and time to secure the place for Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova within European family. Only this can provide real guarantee that new generations live in peaceful and prosperous region. We made our choice towards European integration and our nations have embarked on a path that signifies the pursuit of shared values, stability and cooperation. Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova should get a clear roadmap for the membership in the European Union. Together, we can be stronger Europe”, - Archil Talakvadze, the head of the delegation of the Parliament of Georgia, stated during his speech at the second parliamentary summit of the International Crimea Platform.
As he noted, the participation of the Georgian parliamentary delegation in the summit reaffirms our country's unwavering support for the Ukrainian people who are bravely fighting for their freedom, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, ultimately defending the future of Europe.
Two years after Ukraine's illegal invasion, Georgia remains firmly aligned with the international community in standing by Ukraine. As the Vice Speaker clarified, our country has actively engaged in critical decisions and political resolutions pertaining to Ukraine. Furthermore, Georgia has extended humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, with Georgian government representatives visiting Kyiv to support their counterparts. Georgian officials also visited Bucha and Irpin to express solidarity with the Ukrainian people and bear witness to the harrowing consequences of Russian military aggression. Throughout the conflict, the Georgian embassy has maintained its operations in Kyiv, with Georgian diplomats persistently working to support Ukraine.
“From the very first moment, we opened our hearts and doors to every Ukrainian in need. Ukrainian refugees in Georgia enjoy the same benefits as Georgian IPDs do. We opened schools and programs for Ukrainian children where they access education in their mother language”, - A. Talakvadze remarked.
According to the Vice Speaker of the Parliament, after Russia's military aggression against Georgia in 2008, this war will repeatedly remind us that when one country's sovereignty is threatened, everyone's security is at risk.
“Despite the fact our country itself is under the existential threat and two of our historic regions remain occupied by Russia, we will not swerve from this commitment in the name of both Georgian and Ukrainian nations. Georgia’s support to Ukraine is unconditional and timeless. That’s why we are here not just as individuals of different nations, but as one united voice and one united family - it’s time to show the power that lies in our democracies”, - Archil Talakvadze noted.
The head of the Georgian parliamentary delegation, Archil Talakvadze, who also serves as the Vice Speaker of the Parliament and leads the friendship group with Ukraine, is accompanied by Maka Botchorishvili, the Chair of the EU Integration Committee, and Mariam Lashkhi, the First Deputy Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee. They are representing Georgia at the second parliamentary summit of the International Crimea Platform.
