Archil Talakvadze: the opposition has nothing to say about the education sphere since they have neither vision nor ability to oppose

“This day once again reveals to our society who has assumed responsibility for the governance of the country and who is a political force attaching full responsibility to the mandate and the trust of the society”, - Vice-Speaker, Archil Talakvadze stated at the plenary session after the Education Minister, Giorgi Amilakhvari reported to the Parliament within the Ministerial Hour.

A. Talakvadze overviewed the reforms undertaken in the education system for the last period and gave a positive assessment to the activities planned by the Ministry.

“What is the result of our efforts undertaken over these years, what did the “Georgian Dream” achieve in the education sphere in collaboration with society: first of all, we supported families with heavy financial burdens, we returned healthcare to our citizens along with the security and the European perspective; our Government, first of all, financed the textbooks, which was a heavy financial burden for most of the families. Today, the textbooks are free in over 2000 schools. We consumed vast amounts for the transport, appointing additional routes to difficultly accessible schools. We covered preschool education fees. We launched a significant reform in the vocational education sphere and increased the education budget four times, which evidences the degree of priority of education for the Government. Starting in 2012, we kept increasing the salaries of the pedagogues and allocated immense resources for educational infrastructure. And to sum up this day, it was quite peaceful and productive. The fact that the opposition left the hall, means that they have nothing to say about this sphere, since they have neither vision nor ability to oppose not because there is nothing left to be done but because they see no perspectives for themselves to gain political points. I wish success to our country, to the Ministry, the Minister and his team”, - he stated.
