David Songhulashvili: We should not rest on our laurels and rather strive to maximize the economic potential of Georgian-Czech relations

David Songhulashvili, Chairman of the Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee, together with the Chairman of the Senate of the Czech Parliament, opened the Georgia-Czech Business Forum and addressed the participants with a welcoming speech.
"The Czech Republic runs a number of businesses in Georgia and is interested in expanding trade and economic ties between the two countries. As a result, I believe that our countries' existing partnership and friendly relations, as well as existing agreements between Georgia and the Czech Republic in various areas of cooperation, provide a solid foundation for active trade and economic relations and the implementation of significant and interesting projects. I'd like to highlight the fact that trade turnover has increased by 54% compared to the previous year, which confirms the interest and, as a result, highlights how fruitful this partnership is once again. Of course, we should not rest on our laurels and rather strive to maximize the economic potential of Georgian-Czech relations. The number of people who attended today's business roundtable reaffirms the mutual interest between the two countries' economic sectors. Our role is to give them with as many opportunities to invest in Georgia as possible”, - David Songhulashvili stated at the Georgian-Czech business forum.
David Songhulashvili expressed his gratitude to the Czech Republic for supporting our country's integration into the European Union.
"Such support aids in improving compatibility with the European Union. As you are aware, we just applied for EU membership, and as a result, we received a questionnaire, which is currently being completed. We are convinced that this year's focus will be even more on the Eastern Partnership format, and Georgia will look to you for support and experience exchange as it works to join the EU”.
The event was organized by the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Georgia and the Czech Republic at the Biltmore Hotel.
Memorandums of Georgian-Czech cooperation were signed at the forum.
