The Parliament discussed the outcomes of the activity of the Interim Fact-Finding Commission on the Parliamentary Elections of October 31, 2020

Plenary 26 Jul 2021
The Parliament discussed the outcomes of the activity of the Interim Fact-Finding Commission on the Parliamentary Elections of October 31, 2020

At the extraordinary session, the Parliament discussed the draft resolution on the outcomes of the activity of the Interim Fact-Finding Commission on the Parliamentary Elections of October 31, 2020, and adopted with 79 votes against 1.

The draft and the respective recommendations have been developed by the Commission composed of Givi Mikanadze, Aluda Gudushauri, Pridon Injia and David Zilpimiani.

According to the Chair of the Commission, Givi Mikanadze, the report, recommendations, conclusions and the draft resolution reflect all the studied facts, concerning which the greatest part of the opposition for months was trying to convince the society that the elections were illegitimate and false by gross violations that could affect the final returns, introduced by the CEC.

120 local NGOs, 12 local organizations, up to 47 000 observers were observing the elections.

8 international observation missions have been registered with 910 representatives. 118 media companies accredited by the CEC have been broadcasting on the E-Day with more than 6000 journalists participating in the process.

A certain part of the opposition, right after the accomplishment of the elections, filed the accusations concerning the incompliance of the returns with the expression of the will.

The ruling party, without delay, offered to: calculate hundreds of the DECs, recovery of the records of the DECs for study, and TV debates.

To expire all the questions, the Faction “Georgian Dream” in the spring session initiated the set-up of the Fact-Finding Commission. “It is appalling that the greatest part of the opposition rejected these proposals and hence, did not share the idea of the Commission”, - he added.

The representatives of the opposition party still have not submitted the evidence of the fraud elections or any other manipulations.

The reporter stressed the immediate response of the law-enforcement structures in the pre-election period and on the E-Day. “The law-enforcement structures, in the pre-election period and on the E-Day, initiated 180 criminal cases and it evidences that their response to the actions that could contain the signs of the crime, was immediate”.

He emphasized the simultaneous counting process by the ISFED.

The ruling party put the outcomes of the ISFED submitted 3 hours later under doubt. Based on the efforts of the Governmental team, the organization had to engage the auditor to audit the formula it has used. It is noteworthy that the data of the organization after the amendment of the formula coincided with the final returns published by the CEC.

The Majority and opposition MPs expressed their positions about the draft resolution, as well as the Factions and non-Faction MPs.

“Analyze-based outcomes indicate that the destructive opposition intended to mislead the society and our Western partners to obtain their support to gain the authority by the illegal means”, - G. Mikanadze stated.
