The Standing Committee of the Council of Europe Adopted the Draft Resolution Developed by Givi Mikanadze

The Standing Committee of the Council of Europe adopted the draft resolution developed by Givi Mikanadze, a member of the delegation of the Parliament of Georgia to the Council of Europe, on "The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on prison population in Europe".
Committee members positively evaluated the report and endorsed the draft resolution and recommendations.
Givi Mikanadze was chosen as a rapporteur by the PACE Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights in April 2021.
The draft of the resolution was prepared by the working group, which was led by Givi Mikanadze.
The research that formed the basis for the draft resolution looked at how inmates' rights were curtailed during the epidemic and how those rights were made up for in the correctional systems of 46 member nations.
The secondary goal of the research was to examine how staff members were involved in the use of preventative measures at penitentiary institutions.
The draft of the resolution was created based on best practices through the Council of Europe's guidelines and criteria.
