Giorgi Amilakhvari: All children born before October 1 will have the opportunity to enroll in school this year

"This year, all children born before October 1 have the opportunity to enroll in school. 2,500 people will be able to apply to school this year as a result of this change”, - Giorgi Amilakhvari, Chairman of the Education and Science Committee, said at a briefing today.

As he noted, amid a great deal of parental appeal and as a result of several weeks of intensive work, the Education and Science Committee, in cooperation with the Ministry, decided to lower the primary school age and a person who turns 6 by October 1 should go to school this year.

"As the deadline for electronic registration of first-graders is approaching, the bill will be considered in an expedited manner, so that everyone born before this period can benefit immediately. In parallel, we have developed a systematic vision for this very important issue for the public regarding the age of enrollment of children in school. As you are well aware, new schools are being built intensively and existing schools are being rehabilitated, allowing us to create additional places for our children in schools. Therefore, our approach to revising the enrollment marginal age of a person into a school will definitely continue in the future in the appropriate manner, with the creation of a new school infrastructure”, - Giorgi Amilakhvari remarked.
