Giorgi Volski: first of all, we shall strive to unify the society as a precondition for the restoration of our territorial integrity

The Interim Commission on Territorial Integrity and De-Occupation heard the State Minister for Reconciliation, Tea Akhvlediani in camera, reporting on the measures taken in view of the encouragement of the trade along the occupation line within the Governmental peacekeeping initiative “Step to a Better Future”.

The same topic was overviewed in his speech by the Head of the “Peace Fund for a Better Future”, Besik Bugianishvili.

“We discussed the situation in the occupied regions, the acutest challenges related to the humanitarian and human rights state. We overviewed our visions for the future and the most relevant directions we intend to jointly achieve a common goal”, - T. Akhvlediani stated.

According to the Chair of the Commission, Giorgi Volski, the sitting was very productive and the proposals introduced were interesting about the activity of the Peace Fund, the common interests of Georgians, Abkhazians and Ossetians, the projects to implement for building the future where the war-split society will reconcile and cooperate about the development of their relations.

“Whatever the processes are, first of all, we shall strive to unify the society as a precondition for the restoration of our territorial integrity. The political forces in Georgia, regardless of our political affiliation, shall be oriented to ensure peace and reconcile with each other about the ways of building a state, saving our children in this tense situation, and solution of the socio-economic problems. So, this is the message to reach Abkhazians and Ossetians residing in Tskhinvali and Abkhazia – it is a reality we discussed today”, - he stated.
