Meeting of Givi Mikanadze with the Chairperson of the Education, Culture and Science Committee of the Parliament of Latvia

Within the framework of the official visit to Latvia, the Chair of the Education and Science Committee, Givi Mikanadze held a meeting with the Chairperson of the Education, Culture and Science Committee of the Parliament of Latvia, Agita Zariņa-Stūre, and the Chairperson of the Group for promoting cooperation with the Parliament of Georgia, Aiva Vīksna.

 

The discourse covered the reforms and challenges in the education and science spheres of the two countries.

 

Mr. Mikanadze introduced information on the construction and rehabilitation of 800 new schools and 880 kindergartens initiated by the Prime Minister of Georgia.

 

The emphasis at the meeting was made on the intensification of cooperation in the education and science sphere based on the intergovernmental agreement currently in force.

 

G. Mikanadze invited Agita Zariņa-Stūre and the Committee members to convene a joint Committee sitting in the first quarter of 2024 and plan further joint activity.

 

Mme. Zariņa-Stūre expressed her commitment to enhancing cooperation and visiting Georgia. The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of Georgia to Latvia, H.E. Irakli Kurashvili.
