The Healthcare and Social Issues Committee reviewed, under the expedited procedure and at the I reading, the draft law “On the Quality and Safety of Human Blood and Its Components,” along with related legislative proposals.
The legislative package was presented by Deputy IDPs, Labour, Health and Social Affairs Minister, Irina Tsakadze. According to her explanation, the package concerns the transition to a qualitatively new institutional model for blood establishments.
According to the reporter, alongside a unified central blood establishment, the opportunity to continue operations will also be granted to those blood establishments that currently hold a license for transfusion-related production activities.
She further noted that the draft law also envisages a gradual transition to the principle of voluntary non-remunerated donation by April 1, 2030, in order to achieve a 100% result.
