The Culture Committee Discussed the Draft Law on Licenses and Permits

Media and Society 13 May 2026
The Culture Committee Discussed the Draft Law on Licenses and Permits

The Culture Committee discussed, in the I reading and under an expedited procedure, the Draft Law on Licenses and Permits.

The issue was presented by the Chair of the Culture Committee, Giorgi Gabunia.

According to him, under the current wording of the law, the procedure for preparing and approving construction documentation in the course of construction activities is determined by the Tbilisi City Council. However, this procedure does not apply to permits for carrying out works on cultural heritage monuments.

According to the amendment, the Tbilisi City Council will be authorized to establish the procedure for preparing and approving construction documentation for works on cultural heritage monuments. This will enable Tbilisi City Hall and legal entities established by the Tbilisi Municipality to simplify the approval process for project documentation before the authorized administrative body.

According to Giorgi Gabunia, the amendments will facilitate the faster implementation of rehabilitation works and reduce additional expenditures from the budget.

The Committee approved the Draft.
