Culture Committee took Note of the Public Broadcaster’s 2025 Report

At a meeting of the Culture Committee, the Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Public Broadcaster, Vasil Maglaperidze, presented the 2025 annual reports of the LEPL Public Broadcaster and the LEPL Public Broadcaster of Ajara TV and Radio.
According to the presenter, 2025 was a particularly significant year, as it marked the 100th anniversary of radio broadcasting in Georgia.
“In 2025, Georgian Radio celebrated its 100th anniversary, and the radio channel ‘Georgian Radio’ was granted the status of an Intangible Cultural Heritage Monument. Symbolically, it was also in 2025 that, following a five-year construction process, Channel One began broadcasting from its new building. Two television facilities were equipped with the latest technology and equipment, creating opportunities for the launch of various new thematic projects”, - stated Vasil Maglaperidze.
According to the Chair of the Board of Trustees, 2025 was also notable for hosting the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.
He noted that the event held in Tbilisi received one of the highest evaluations among Junior Eurovision competitions organized across Europe.
While discussing new projects implemented during the reporting period, Maglaperidze stated that in 2025, the Public Broadcaster began producing television films and gained valuable experience in this area, which is expected to develop into a long-term tradition. He also emphasized that the broadcaster continued actively transmitting and promoting both sports and cultural-educational programming throughout the year.
Regarding the Public Broadcaster of Ajara, Maglaperidze noted that a decision has been made to construct a new building for the television company. According to him, within two years, the Ajara Public Broadcaster will operate from new premises equipped with modern technical capabilities, enabling it to offer viewers a wider range of engaging and diverse programming.
The discussion of the report continued in a question-and-answer format.
The Culture Committee positively assessed the report and took note of it.
“Significant progress has been made in the development of the Public Broadcaster, and it has been equipped with modern technical resources. The broadcaster has every opportunity and condition necessary to continue the long-standing tradition for which it has been known and to offer the public many interesting projects in the future”, - Committee Chair, Giorgi Gabunia noted.
