Maka Botchorishvili delivered the address at the OSCE PA autumn session

The Chair of the EU Integration Committee, a member of the Parliamentary Delegation to OSCE PA, Maka Botchorishvili participated in the OSCE PA autumn session held in Dublin.
Within the session, Mme. Botchorishvili delivered the speech at the debates on conflicts and security issues.
“Georgia is the OSCE member state, which for decades has been going through the consequences of the neglect of international norms. The conflict, neglect of the territorial integrity, the occupation of two regions of Georgia by Russia and the presence of the Russian military bases therein constitute the challenges that our country faces for three decades”, - she stated underlining the peace-keeping policy of the Government of Georgia, the engagement of the international actors in this process and the significance of the peaceful resolution of the conflict and the restoration of the territorial integrity of Georgia.
“As a result of the 10-year efforts of the Government of Georgia, today, we are backed by the orders of international courts, equipping us with not only political but legal arguments to strive for peaceful resolution of the conflict”, - she noted.
M. Botchorishvili touched upon the upcoming Parliamentary Elections and the challenges that hinder the stable development of the country. She underscored the value of the maintenance of peace and stability in the country against the complex and turbulent geopolitical milieu.
“On various grounds, numerous threats of destabilization have been posed to Georgia in recent years, which intensifies the vulnerability of national security. We witnessed innumerable campaigns of an international scale that, for the most part, are devoid of real objective grounds, however, still violate the reputation of the country. We have forthcoming Parliamentary Elections, which shall be held in strict adherence to the regulations and the choice of the Georgian citizens shall not be challenged by any of the forces as was fact in the past”, - she noted.
In her speech, Maka Botchorishvili accentuated the role of the OSCE observation mission and the necessity of its unbiased opinions.
