The Chair of the European Integration Committee of the Georgian Parliament, Maka Botchorishvili, met with Member of the European Parliament Branislav Ondruš, who is also an advisor to the Minister of Labour, Social Affairs, and Family of the Slovak Republic, and Michal Štuska, Vice-President of the Slovak Parliament's European Affairs Committee and President of the Slovakia-Georgia Friendship Group.
The Slovak legislators were in Tbilisi as part of the twinning project "Improving Safe and Healthy Working Conditions in Georgia in Line with EU Standards and Advanced International Practices".
The discussion during the meeting focused on Georgia's integration into the European Union, the reforms being implemented by Georgia, and the progress achieved so far.
Maka Botchorishvili emphasized the geopolitical significance of relations with the European Union, as well as the need for cooperation across various sectors.
Branislav Ondruš noted his familiarity with the system implemented as a result of labor safety reforms in Georgia, stating that he is personally aware of the progress the country has made in recent years. "The government and public officials do not view alignment with the EU as merely a formal obligation; you genuinely believe in it and see it as a path to improving the quality of life", - he remarked.
The guests expressed strong support for Georgia's path toward EU membership. The parties agreed on future cooperation within both the European Parliament and various inter-parliamentary formats.
