The Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee, Kakha Kuchava met with the staff members of the EaP Parliament during their visit to the Georgian Parliament.

The Chair of the Committee briefed the guests on the works of the Parliament with a special focus on the legislative and oversight activities of the Environmental and Natural Resources Committee and answered their questions.

“It was important for the guests to get acquainted with the practice that the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee introduced in the Parliament of Georgia in relation to thematic inquiry and enforcement of normative acts. They were mainly interested in the way these mechanisms work in practice, as well as the obstacles to be considered when first implementing them. We are very proud of the practice that has been introduced by our Parliament and that it has now become mandatory for committees under the Rules of Procedure. It is also important that several committees are already using the oversight mechanisms in their work, and we would be glad to see other parliaments sharing our experience in implementing the same system”, - Kakha Kuchava commented.
