Access to Fuelwood Resources to be extended to 2026

As the Parliament endorsed, the access for the population to the fuelwood resources shall be extended to January 1, 2026, as stipulated under the Draft Forest Code discussed by the Parliament with the III reading and approved with 82 votes.


The Draft was introduced by the Deputy Environmental Minister, Nino Tandilashvili.


“The changes aim at the extension of the annulment of the social felling system to January 1, 2026, as well as prevent the restriction of access to the fuelwood resources for the population that they use for heating”, - she noted.


The Draft changes the term of the issue of the timber harvesting ticket and determines that the providing the social interests of the natural person, the issue of the ticket shall be extended from January 1, 2023, to January 1, 2026.
