The Deputy Chair of the EU Integration Committee, Nino Iobashvili held a meeting with the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Senate of Spain. Georgian MPs introduced the parliamentary agenda and the progress in compliance with the EU recommendations.

“We informed our Spanish colleagues about the fulfillment of 12 priorities the major part of which, despite certain impediments, has already been implemented. We hope that in autumn, when the European Commission issues its assessment, Georgia will receive the deserved EU candidacy, in which the support of Spain is of utmost importance since Spain assumes the EU presidency in summer”, - she noted after the meeting.

According to her, Spanish MPs give a positive estimation to the progress and the dynamic achieved by Georgia in the fulfillment of the EU recommendations.

The guests reaffirmed their support to the territorial integrity, sovereignty and the EU and NATO integration of Georgia.

The meeting was attended by Committee members Hermann Szabo, Khatia Tsilosani and Maia Menagarishvili, as well as the Ambassador of Georgia to Spain, H.E. Ilia Giorgadze.
