Nino Iobashvili participated in the Inauguration Meeting of the OSCE PA Women’s Network

The Deputy Chair of the EU Integration Committee and a member of the Gender Equality Council, Nino Iobashvili participated in the Inauguration Meeting of the OSCE PA Women’s Network online.
The OSCE PA women parliamentarians deliberated the objectives and plans of the hereof format to outline the gender equality progress and identify the challenges hindering the fulsome implementation of gender equality.
In her speech, N. Iobashvili overviewed the gender equality policy that has achieved a high index in the agenda of the country. According to her, one of the paragraphs of the EU recommendations envisages intensification of the activities for ensuring gender equality. She informed her colleagues about the Parliamentary Working Group on Countering Femicide and dwelt on the legal changes directed to the elimination of violence against women in view of the fulfillment of the EU recommendations.
The OSCE PA Women’s Network has been established with the initiative of the OSCE PA Special Representative Hedy Fry with the key purpose to ensure the discussion of gender equality and the legal state of women and facilitation of improvement of the general situation in this context.
