The Deputy Chair of the EU Integration Committee, Nino Iobashvili, took part in the meeting of the group of young delegates of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Yerevan, Armenia.

Nino Iobashvili spoke during the panel discussion "The role of young politicians and delegates in the process of dealing with current security challenges in the OSCE region" and discussed the significance of peaceful coexistence and cooperation in this context as well as the complex regional and geopolitical security environment that has been created.

She emphasized the effects of Russia's armed action against Ukraine on the regional security system and discussed Georgia's principal problem—the occupation of Georgian territories by Russia—as well as the challenging humanitarian and security situation there.

After granting Georgia the European perspective for EU membership candidate status, Nino Iobashvili updated her colleagues on the suggestions the European Commission had made as well as the successes and difficulties encountered during the execution of the association agreement.

The MP pointed up the importance of empowering and involving young politicians. She asserts that it is acceptable to use the young delegate format within the context of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. She underlined that in order to ensure young politicians actively participate in these efforts, national parliaments must step up their efforts as well.

Delegates from Austria, Andorra, Norway, and Poland also participated in the meeting.

Meetings were held with the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, H.E. Alen Simonyan, Secretary of the Security Council, Armen Grigorian, Ombudsman, Christine Grigorian, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Vahe Gevorgyan and the representatives of the civil sector.
