Parliament Commenced Elaboration on Implementation of EU Recommendations on Gender Equality

The Permanent Parliamentary Council for Gender Equality and the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee held a working meeting with representatives of international and local non-governmental organizations regarding the implementation of the 9th recommendation out of 12 recommendations of the European Union, which is related to gender equality issues.
According to the Chair of the Council, Nino Tsilosani, the meeting highlighted several key issues in the direction of gender equality.
"These concerns include the reaffirmation of the state's commitment to gender equality, the launch of the idea of women's economic empowerment, and the implementation of legislative measures that will be in line with the Istanbul Convention. We also established a plan of action”, - Nino Tsilosani stated.
According to the Chair of the Committee, Mikheil Sarjveladze, the main priorities, and accents were identified at the meeting and a common opinion regarding these issues was agreed upon.
"High levels of inclusion in the decision-making process are crucial. It is particularly crucial to understand what the community's key concerns and expectations may be in connection to process planning. In light of this, these meetings provided a useful venue for the representatives of the interested society to express their opinions”, - Mikheil Sarjveladze noted.
