Mariam Lashkhi held a series of meetings in the Kingdom of Thailand as part of a working visit

Mariam Lashkhi, Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Education, Science and Youth Affairs, held a series of meetings in the Kingdom of Thailand as part of a working visit.

At the invitation of the Parliamentary Network of the World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Mariam Lashkhi met with Mr. Nadhavudh Dharmasiri, Deputy Director-General of the Fiscal Policy Office (FPO) under the Ministry of Finance of Thailand, as well as representatives of the World Bank and the private sector.

The meetings focused on the key priorities of Thailand’s fiscal policy and macroeconomic governance.

Particular attention was devoted to improving urban living conditions, the regularization of informal settlements, and contemporary challenges to economic development.

As part of the visit, Mariam Lashkhi also met with representatives of Thai Credit Bank, where the parties discussed support mechanisms for small, medium-sized and micro enterprises, opportunities to expand access to financial resources, and ways to strengthen the role of the private sector in economic development.

According to Mariam Lashkhi, Chair of the Education, Science and Youth Affairs Committee, Georgia has significant economic potential, the full realization of which depends on sound policies and strong international partnerships.

“Georgia has tremendous potential: the Middle Corridor, a young economy, a flexible state, and strong human capital. The right policies and the right partners can turn this potential into reality. During the visit, I also had the opportunity to strengthen relations with fellow parliamentarians from the European Parliament, as well as members of the parliaments of Italy, France, Luxembourg, the United Kingdom, Singapore, and Mongolia”, - Mariam Lashkhi stated.

The visit to Thailand took place within the framework of the Parliamentarians in the Field Programme, an initiative of the Parliamentary Network of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund that provides parliamentarians from different countries with an opportunity to exchange experience on development policy, economic reforms, and international cooperation.
