Parliament Approved Amendments Providing for the Gradual Introduction of Textbooks Developed by the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth

The Parliament of Georgia considered, under an expedited procedure and in its III reading, and approved by 84 votes, the government-initiated draft law amending the Law of Georgia on General Education.
The draft law was presented at the plenary session by Tamar Makharashvili, Deputy Education, Science and Youth Minister.
The amendment provides for the phased introduction of textbooks developed by the Ministry for specific grades and subjects during the 2026–2027 and 2027–2028 academic years, until the full replacement of existing textbooks is completed.
Accordingly, until all textbooks have been replaced, the teaching process will continue to use textbooks that were approved prior to the launch of the reform and granted official authorization, as well as textbooks that comply with the standards established by the National Curriculum and have been agreed upon with the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia.
