Parliament Endorsing Changes to Law on Public Procurements in III Reading

The Parliament endorsed the changes to the Law on Public Procurements in III reading with 71 votes.
According to the Parliamentary Secretary of the Government, Vakhtang Bachiashvili, the changes are due mainly to the needs of small-budget purchasing organizations, which provide, on the one hand, educational and, on the other hand, social services, or both.
The purchasing organization has the right to decide whether to implement this purchase using streamlined procedures under current regulations if the sum of all purchases made in a given year does not exceed 5,000 GEL. With the revised plan, the maximum amount that can be spent on products and services is increased to 10,000 GEL, while the maximum amount that can be spent on construction work is increased to 20,000 GEL.
