Election of PD to be Held in Open Ballot

The Parliament discussed in the first reading and supported by 98 votes the amendments to be introduced in the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament of Georgia, which will allow open voting in the election of the Public Defender by the Parliament.
Levan Ioseliani presented the legislative proposal of the parliamentary group "Citizens’, according to which the Public Defender is no longer listed among the authorities whose election is by secret ballot according to the revision to Article 204, Paragraph 5 of the Rules of Procedure.
He claims that this modification will make it possible for the general public to track how consistently the MPs make decisions in light of the vote outcomes.
The bill will be given accelerated consideration by the Parliament.
