Meeting of the members of the Parliamentary Political Group “For National and Democratic State” with the OSCE/ODIHR Needs Assessment Mission representatives

The members of the Parliamentary Political Group “For National and Democratic State” met with the OSCE/ODIHR Needs Assessment Mission representatives. The Chair of the PG, Nika Machutadze and the Group member, Bachuki Kardaga overviewed the electoral legislation of the country.
“We discussed the problems that the electoral legislation and the political system encounter today. We underlined that the changes introduced to the Election Code serve for the interests of the ruling political party solely. We emphasized the electronic vote counting system, the respective threats and the insurance thereof”, - N. Machutadze stated.
According to him, the discourse touched upon the necessity of wide-scale observation missions at the elections.
“We accentuated the attempt to stigmatize the Western observation mission and the Western institutions in general, which is aimed under the so-called Law on Transparency to allow the ruling party to delegitimate the possible strict assessments of the observation missions that may follow the elections in Georgia. We also appealed to our Western partners to cooperate with the Government and the ruling party about the e-voting system to ensure the engagement of the Georgian immigrants and the diasporas in the elections”, - he added
