Irakli Kadagishvili, the Committee's Chairman, presented the text of Nikanor Melia's statement to his colleagues, in which he addressed the Chairman of the Parliament on August 3, 2021 about the early termination of an MP’s term of office.

The Committee verified the veracity of Nikanor Melia's statement, according to which the MPs deemed it necessary to grant the MP’s request to terminate his authority in accordance with the relevant articles of Georgia's Constitution and the Parliament's Rules of Procedure.

"We have clearly set dates for replying to this type of statement in accordance with the Constitution and the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament, so this matter is absolutely devoid of any political constituents on our part”, - Irakli Kadagishvili added, "The Committee is considering the issue in accordance with the legislation."

The Committee's report will be sent to the Parliamentary Bureau, which will produce a resolution on the subject for the next Parliamentary session's agenda.
