The Procedural Issues and Rules Committee approved the authenticity of the signatures of MPs concerning the Constitutional Changes

The Committee discussed the authenticity of the signatures of MPs in view of the submission of the legal initiatives – the Amendments to the Constitution and the Draft Law on Family Values and Protection of Minors.


According to the Chair, Irakli Kadagishvili, the verification resulted to the certification of the authenticity of the signatures of 83 MPs, which complies with the number of signatures stipulated under paragraph 1, Article 77 of the Constitution, and Article 123 of the Rules of Procedure – over half of the full composition of the Parliament.


As I. Kadagishvili elucidated, the composition of the Steering Public Consideration Commission has already been established – the Commission, chaired by the Speaker, Shalva Papuashvili, will be composed of: the Parliamentary Majority Leader, the Chair of the Faction “Georgian Dream”, Mamuka Mdinaradze; the Chair of the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee, Rati Ionatamishvili; the Chair of the Education, Science and Youth Affairs Committee, Givi Mikanadze; the Chair of the EU Integration Committee, Maka Botchorishvili; the Chair of the Legal Issues Committee, Anri Okhanashvili; his First Deputy, David Matikashvili; the Deputy Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee, Salome Kurasbediani; the Deputy Chair of the Defense and Security Committee, Tengiz Sharmanashvili; the Chair of the Parliamentary Political Group “People’s Power”, Sozar Subari; the Chair of the PPG “European Socialists”, Pridon Injia; the Chair of the PPG “Citizens”, Alexander Elisashvili; member of the PPG “For Georgia”, Shalva Kereselidze; and the Deputy Chief of the Speaker’s Cabinet, Nino Shavgulidze.
