Legal Regulations on Driving Violations to Become Stricter

Legal Regulations on Driving Violations to Become Stricter

The Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee discussed the changes to the Code of Administrative Offenses, envisaging the imposition of administrative liability to a person for driving a vehicle in a state of alcohol intoxication if the ethanol content in the blood exceeds 0.3 ppm and does not exceed 0.7 ppm.

The same administrative liability shall be extended to a person avoiding the alcohol intoxication check-up.

As the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Aleksandre Darakhvelidze, noted, administrative liability in the amount of 100 GEL will be imposed for driving such a vehicle, the noise generated during its operation exceeds the established norms.

"Installing a special loudspeaker, sound signal, flashing signal, or using the color designated for operational or special service vehicles on a vehicle in violation of the rule established by the Minister of Internal Affairs will result in a fine of 2,000 GEL, and for subsequent offenses, a fine of 2,500 GEL will be imposed”, - Aleksandre Darakhvelidze commented.

Providing false information to an authorized person of the police in order to use someone else's driver's license by the driver of a vehicle has been established as a separate offense, which will result in a fine of 700 GEL.

The sanction increases for driving an unregistered vehicle, as well as for driving a vehicle without a state license plate, another vehicle, or a vehicle with a disguised or otherwise altered state license plate.

Driving a sports car whose technical passport (registration) has been canceled will be punishable.

Leaving the scene of the accident by the driver involved in the traffic accident will lead to the suspension of the right to drive for a period of 3 years, and for the person who does not have the right to drive - a fine of 1,500 GEL.

Exceeding the set speed limit by a vehicle driver at a speed of more than 40 km/h will result in a fine of 300 GEL instead of 150 GEL.

Accordingly, the sanction is increased if the speeding results in the creation of an emergency situation, which will result in a fine of 400 GEL instead of 300 GEL, and if the speeding results in light damage to the vehicle, cargo, road, or other structure, other property or human body, the offender shall be fined with 600 GEL instead of 500 GEL.
