Meeting of Shalva Papuashvili with the Prime Minister of Romania

The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, H.E. Shalva Papuashvili, held a meeting with the Prime Minister of Romania, Marcel Ciolacu, to discuss the growing positive dynamics in Georgia-Romania relations.
Mr. Papuashvili expressed gratitude to Romania for its support regarding Georgia's territorial integrity, and European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations. They explored various aspects of bilateral relations, particularly in the fields of economy, trade, and energy.
The Prime Minister of Romania emphasized that the relationship between the two countries should focus on security and economic cooperation, underscoring the increasing importance of parliamentary diplomacy. Both sides recognized the strategic geographical location of their countries and discussed its significance in the current geopolitical landscape.
The meeting highlighted the opening of a ferry line between Georgia and Romania, along with the importance of joint projects that enhance connectivity between the Black Sea and Europe's energy infrastructure. Sh. Papuashvili updated the Prime Minister on Georgia's progress towards EU and NATO membership and expressed hope for continued strong support from Romania.
Mr. Ciolacu assured that Romania wholeheartedly supports Georgia and will continue to do so on its path to joining the European Union and NATO. The two leaders expressed their commitment to deepening the strategic partnership between their countries. The meeting was attended by Georgian MPs: David Songhulashvili, Isko Daseni, Genrieta Tsitsava, Ekaterine Sefashvili, and the Georgian Ambassador to Romania, H.E. Tamar Beruchashvili.
