Shota Berekashvili Meets with Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Georgia

The Chair of the Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee, Shota Berekashvili, met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Georgia, H.E. Faig Guliyev.
The introductory meeting focused on the friendly relations between the two countries and discussed the key directions of the Georgia-Azerbaijan strategic partnership.
“During the meeting, attention was drawn to strategic directions and projects of particular importance for bilateral cooperation between Georgia and Azerbaijan. The energy sector was discussed as a fundamental pillar for regional security and sustainable development. In this context, the potential of the Black Sea underwater cable project was highlighted as a key component for strengthening energy connectivity with Europe.
Special emphasis was placed on the geopolitical significance of the Middle Corridor, reaffirming the roles of Georgia and Azerbaijan as reliable transit partners within global logistics networks. Opportunities for enhancing railway traffic were explored in the field of logistics and transport infrastructure, which will contribute significantly to strengthening regional connectivity.
We also reviewed the tourism sector as a growing area of bilateral cooperation, holding substantial potential for deepening economic and cultural ties.
The meeting addressed the role of companies operating in both countries and their contribution to the dynamics of bilateral trade and economic relations. The importance of their activities in the context of job creation was particularly underlined", - Sh. Berekashvili stated.
The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Chair of the Committee, Giorgi Barvenashvili, committee member Anton Obolashvili, and Givi Mikanadze, Head of the Georgia-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Friendship Group.
