Tamar Taliashvili Participating in Awarding Ceremony of Winners of History Competition

The First Deputy Chair of the Education and Science Committee, Tamar Taliashvili, participated in the awarding ceremony of the project - History Competition, which was organized under the auspices of the German Körber Foundation (Körber-Stiftung) and the Institute for International Cooperation of the Deutscher Volkshochschul-Verband DVV International and the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Tamar Taliashvili focused on the significance of the history competition for Georgia, "30 Years after the Collapse of the Soviet Union", in her speech. She asserts that it is crucial to accurately communicate and interpret recent history because our country, which is 20% occupied, is currently facing unprecedented difficulties for peace and security as a result of Russia's aggressiveness in the region.
"Our intention is to offer the teaching of history a special and appropriate place because patriotism, critical analysis, and free thinking are all greatly reliant on a thorough comprehension of this subject. Georgia joined the Council of Europe's Observatory on History Teaching in Europe last year. Georgia's participation on this platform will be crucial for the country's European perspective as well as its educational system”, - Tamar Taliashvili noted.
Topics for teacher training and student competitions were chosen within the competition's framework.
The project was implemented simultaneously in five countries: Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Georgia and Armenia.
